Abstract

Targeted gene modification has revolutionized cellular biology, with CRISPR-Cas9 and base editing emerging as prominent techniques. Despite their application in gene therapy, there is a critical need for a comparative analysis to discern efficiency, specificity, and potential off-target effects. This study presents a systematic evaluation of both methodologies across diverse cell types, delineating their advantages and limitations. By employing quantitative metrics, we assess the fidelity of gene edits, cellular responses, and long-term effects on genetic stability. Our findings reveal significant differences in precision and versatility, underscoring the suitability of base editing in therapeutic applications. This work lays the groundwork for future advances in gene modification strategies pertinent to clinical applications.
