Stochastic Multi-Tier Principal–Agent Decomposition for Dynamic Resource Allocation in Decentralized Corporate Hierarchies: A Parametric Optimization Framework

Abstract

Contemporary decentralized corporate structures face persistent inefficiencies in hierarchical resource allocation stemming from asymmetric information flows and misaligned incentive mechanisms across organizational tiers. This study develops a stochastic multi-tier principal–agent decomposition (SMPAD) framework that integrates parametric optimization techniques with dynamic contract theory to resolve agency conflicts in multi-divisional firms. Employing a combination of stochastic dynamic programming, Lagrangian relaxation, and mechanism design principles, the proposed model is calibrated against longitudinal panel data drawn from 214 multinational corporations across 18 industries over a 12-year horizon. Empirical validation demonstrates a statistically significant reduction in resource misallocation rates (23.7%, p < 0.001) and measurable improvements in cross-divisional coordination efficiency. The framework offers actionable prescriptive guidance for corporate governance architects and operations strategists navigating high-uncertainty, multi-principal organizational environments.
