Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
Articles
International Journal of Public Management publishes original, peer-reviewed research that explores theory, policy, and practice in public sector governance and management. The journal welcomes empirical, theoretical, and applied studies that contribute to a deeper understanding of how public institutions can operate more effectively, transparently, and responsibly.
Research Articles – Empirical or theoretical studies presenting new insights into public administration, public policy implementation, leadership, or innovation in governance. Articles should follow the IMRAD structure and include robust methodology, data analysis, and policy implications.
Review Articles – Systematic or narrative reviews synthesizing research on governance reform, public service management, or institutional change. Reviews should summarize the state of knowledge, identify gaps, and propose future directions for research and practice.
Case Studies – Practical analyses of government reforms, public sector projects, or administrative innovations. Case studies should describe the background, implementation, outcomes, and lessons learned relevant to public management and policy application.
Policy and Practice Papers – Analytical or reflective papers focusing on governance frameworks, public finance, performance management, and leadership practices. Submissions should demonstrate clear practical implications and relevance to policymakers and public sector professionals.
