Abstract

This study explores the impact of parental influence on the emotional intelligence of children across different cultures. Using a cross-cultural design, the research compares family dynamics and child-rearing practices in Japan and the United States. Results show significant differences in how emotional intelligence is nurtured, with Japanese families emphasizing harmony and empathy, while American families focus on assertiveness and independence. These insights suggest potential pathways for fostering emotional intelligence through culturally sensitive parenting strategies.
