This paper investigates the relationship between socioeconomic status (SES) and self-esteem among Brazilian adolescents. Utilizing a representative sample from urban and rural areas, the study employs cross-sectional surveys and in-depth interviews to assess the impact of SES on self-perception and social functioning. Results reveal significant SES-related differences in self-esteem, with lower SES linked to reduced self-confidence and social interaction skills. These findings highlight the need for targeted interventions to support adolescents from disadvantaged backgrounds. Further research is needed to explore the role of cultural factors in shaping these dynamics.
